Impact of Percutaneous Mitral Valve Repair on Left Atrial Strain and Atrial Fibrillation Progression

چکیده
Transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) currently represents a valuable therapeutic option for patients with severe mitral regurgitation (MR) considered at high surgical risk. Besides symptoms and left ventricular (LV) echocardiographic improvements upon TEER, it has been postulated that atrial (LA) function plays prognostic role. The aims of our study were to evaluate LA changes after measured by two-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography analysis (2D-STE), their association fibrillation (AF) occurrence, relative arrhythmic burden. We in single-center 109 affected symptomatic MR undergoing TEER from February 2015 April 2022. By 2D-STE, reservoir (R_s), conduct (D_s), contractile (C_s) strains assessed along four-chamber emptying fraction (LAEF-4CH) before, 1, 6, 12 months following TEER. Statistical comparison among baseline, follow-ups was carried out ANOVA, MANOVA, linear regression. Successful significantly improved LV dimensions performances, as indicated all strain components, LAEF-4CH 1 year. Strikingly, significant reduction burden observed, since only one case subclinical AF detected previously implanted cardiac electronic device found the cohort sinus rhythm (n = 48) undergone TEER; addition, rate reduced 61) compared together few episodes nonsustained tachycardias (5/61, 8.2%) improvement. Overall, associated performance, amelioration,

متن کاملInfluence of atrial fibrillation on outcome following mitral valve repair.
BACKGROUND To investigate the outcome of patients in atrial fibrillation (AF) following mitral valve repair, clinical and echocardiographic follow-up was undertaken in 400 consecutive patients who underwent mitral valvuloplasty from 1987 to 1999. METHODS AND RESULTS The main indications for surgery were degenerative (81.4%), endocarditis (7.1%), rheumatic (6.6%), ischemic (4.6%), and traumati...

Heart rhythm disturbances become of special importance when patients reach a senior age. Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most prevalent arrhythmia among the old age groups, and its impact on morbidity and mortality becomes of paramount significance. In this population, AF is responsible for significant amount of thromboembolic cerebrovascular events, especially for disabling and fatal strokes. ...
